Type 2 diabetes is a disease in which our pancreas does
not produce enough insulin, or our body is not able to use the insulin
secreted by the pancreas, efficiently. About 90 to 95 percent people
with diabetes are suffering from diabetes type 2. This type of diabetes
is generally associated with old age, family history, obesity, physical

Type 2 diabetes was
also referred to as 'non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus' or adult
onset diabetes mellitus. The number of patients suffering from diabetes
symptoms is staggering, one needs to pay attention to type 2 diabetes
diet plan and exercise. For diabetes cure, patient should keep a check
on symptoms of diabetes and take diabetes medication accordingly for
diabetes management. Symptoms include frequent urination, fatigue or
nausea, unusual thirst, blurred vision, weight loss, frequent infections
and slow healing of sores and wounds.
The main focal point of
type 2 diabetes should be weight control, as almost 90 % of people who
have this disease, are overweight. Meal planning should include healthy
food and eating the right amount in right time. Some guidelines
concerning the diet for type II diabetes are as follows:
1) Dietary fat should be reduced. Calories from saturated fat should not be
more than 7 % to 10 %. The amount of trans-unsaturated fats should be
minimized.
2) Your diet should have 15 % to 20 % protein content.
Choices such as legumes, non-fat dairy products, fish, skinless poultry
and lean meats are low in fat. To keep the cholesterol in range, 6
ounces of protein per day is recommended.
3) Carbohydrate has to
come from whole grain breads or cereals, beans, fruits, pasta, brown
rice and vegetables. Dietary fiber should also be included in the meal
plan.
