| Are You at the Risk of Pre-Diabetes? |
|
There are other factors such as genetic pre-disposition and obesity that can further contribute to the development of Type 2 diabetes. The primary trigger is a diet that is high on sugary foods, simple carbohydrates such as white refined flour and a lack of exercise. Although pre-diabetes is a condition that is not to be taken lightly, it is certainly not a death toll. It is more in the nature of an alarm that provides a signal that things are not entirely well with the way that the body is metabolizing sugar and that corrective action needs to be taken. The fact is that pre-diabetes is reversible and by taking timely action the body’s sensitivity to insulin can be increased. Taking corrective action at this stage can prevent the onset of type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is a major health risk that can result in various health consequences such as stroke, blindness, and cardiovascular problems, not to mention a lifetime of dependency on diabetic medications to bring down blood sugar levels. |
