Diabetic people have a deficiency of the insulin
hormone secreted by pancreas. Insulin is the main hormone responsible
for the control of sugar (glucose) in the blood. People having type 1
diabetes need to have injections of insulin to control the amount of
glucose in their bloodstream. Insulin injections act as a replacement
for natural insulin, and allow people with diabetes to achieve normal
blood glucose levels and diabetes cure. Insulin injection works in the
same way as natural insulin does. One such type of insulin is the
protamine zinc insulin. This is known as a long acting insulin. This
insulin starts working after approximately four to six hours after
injection, and its effects last for 24 to 36 hours. This helps control
blood glucose throughout the day.
Protamine
zinc insulin is usually given in combination with a short acting
insulin, which is given before meals to control the spiking blood
glucose levels after meals. For further details read Here
Are Some Medications For Diabetes.
It is necessary that you
monitor your blood glucose regularly and adjust your insulin dose with
the help of a physician. Keeping your blood glucose level as close to
normal as possible, and not too high or too low, significantly reduces
the risk of developing late-stage diabetic complications. To know more

Protamine Zinc
Insulin is combined with Zinc and Protamine (a protein extracted from
salmon testes), which minimizes the release of the insulin into the
bodily tissues. Historically, the insulin component of PZI, as well as
all other insulin produced for human medical use, was derived from
animals, either cows or pigs.
