Diabetics menu is a specialized diet plan prepared by health care experts for people who are suffering from diabetes. A diabetics menu is nothing more than a healthy eating plan which is formulated with the requirements and precautions that a diabetes patient needs to observe. An ideal diabetics menu is a balanced diet plan which is rich in fiber and starch but low on fats.

Almost all the health experts recommend that the diabetes menu is to be prepared ensuring the requirements of one individual. Thus, all persons who have diabetes can not have the same diabetics menu. However an overall estimate as per lifestyle and calorie requirement of the person can help us draw certain skeletal structures which can provide the groundwork for the diabetics menu. The patient is free to coordinate with the physician to work out the finer details.

If you are a small built woman who does regular exercise or a medium built woman who is not much into exercise or you are a small or medium woman and want to loose weight, you only need 1200 to 1600 calories per day. Your ideal diabetics menu should include 6 units of starch, 2 units of milk and/or yogurt, 3 units of vegetables, 2 units of meat (look for appropriate substitute if you are a vegetarian), 2 units of fruits and up to 3 fats.

The calorie requirement for a large woman considering losing weight, a small man of normal weight, a medium man who does not do exercise or a medium to large man considering loosing  weight range from anywhere between 1,600 to 2,000 calories per day. Such individuals should consider 8 units of starch, 2 units of milk and/or yogurt, 4 units of vegetables, 2 units of meat (look for appropriate substitute if you are a vegetarian) and 3 units of fruits and up to 4 fats in the diabetics menu.

If you are a medium or a large man with a physically active job, a large man of normal weight or a large woman who exercises a lot, your daily calorie needs are somewhere between  2,000 to 2,400 calories. Your ideal diabetics menu should include 11 units of starch, 2 units of milk and/or yogurt, 4 units of vegetables, 2 units of meat (look for appropriate substitute if you are a vegetarian), 3 units of fruit and up to 5 units of fat.

Remember that your daily requirements may vary from time to time, but they do not affect your diabetics menu very much. Stay in touch with your physician and regularly update your diabetics menu.
