| Need to Protect Yourself from the Complications from Diabetes? |
|
The first and foremost thing is treatment. Make sure that you take your prescribed medications in time as per your doctor’s recommendations. Be prepared to follow instructions in terms of checking your glucose levels. A little bit of precaution in this area can save you from the serious consequences of either hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia. Although treatment is important, diabetes is not just about treatment. It is also about management. Diabetes is a condition that can affect the extremities. Take care of your feet and hands very well. Whenever you shower, make sure that you dry and disinfect your feet and the areas between the toes, very well. This will help to prevent fungal infections that can be painful and may take a long time to heal. Plenty of fresh air and exercise will always help to keep you energetic and fully charged. A half an hour walk everyday is a great form of exercise. Remember that consistency is more important that duration as far as exercise is concerned. Drink plenty of water every day. At a minimum level, you should drink eight tall glasses of water everyday. Make sure that you get 8 hours of sound sleep during the night. Brush your teeth and floss before you go to bed.
