One of the main symptoms of diabetes is frequent urination, which, in medical terminology, is called polyuria. This symptom is exhibited by patients with untreated diabetes and is caused by the extra load that the kidneys have to take on because of high glucose levels in the blood. As a result of constant urination and loss of fluids, a diabetic may also exhibit excessive thirst or polydipsia.

A diabetic may also suffer from unexplained loss of weight. This is because the body is unable to utilize the existing glucose in the blood effectively. This leads to excessive hunger or polyphegia. Lack of the body’s ability to effectively utilize glucose also results in constant lethargy and a sense of weariness. The high levels of sugar in the blood impair circulation and may lead to damage of the optic nerve, thereby resulting in blurred vision.

Foot sore and injuries take a long time to heal. As a result, diabetics have to be particularly conscious about the shoes that they wear and make sure that they are not too tight.
