Diabetes is exactly a 'disease' that can not be cured, but can only be managed. Its this trait has given rise to the expression 'diabetes management'. Once it has a hold on your body, it persists thinking that it can stay on as long as it wishes to. Unfortunately, that's true. Hence, the only option left is to manage it as best as one can so that its mischief could be controlled.

Diabetes is caused when pancreas either stop producing insulin altogether or when the body fails to use the insulin produced. If this fundamental function is not done efficiently enough, it results in severe problems in your eyes, nerves and kidneys and heart.

There are a number of over-the-counter medicines available for diabetes, but none can completely cure it. At best, they can check it. But, at the end of the day, everything boils down to diet. The food you eat is the cause and cure of all diseases. Eat right, stay healthy. The emphasis, therefore, is on eating the right kind of food at the right time. The best way to find what is best to eat is to observe nature, which is not just one's best friend but also an unfailing doctor.

Vitamin B and Chromium are known to control the blood sugar levels. So far as Chromium is concerned, it's effectiveness is such that it is known as the Diabetic Mineral. Therefore, eat those fruits and vegetables wherein these vitamins are found aplenty.

Exercise is another important tool to control diabetes. Malfunctioning of the metabolic process within the body is one of the important reasons for diabetic attack. Morning walk, yoga, breathing exercises and alike are proven methods to control diabetes. In particular, “Sun Salutation”, which is in fact the clubbing together of some of the important yoga postures, is considered to be very useful for regulating the metabolism of the body.

Your awareness about the diabetes, is itself a part of the treatment. Being aware of it enables one to sidestep all that may adversely affect one's diabetic condition. Awareness, therefore, is a big part of the curing process. In fact, most of the health problems are unnecessarily complicated by human beings, primarily because most of us lack the basic understanding of the working of human body. Controlling diabetes is not as difficult as it is made out to be, provided that the attempts are made right from the initial stages.
