Seven Ways to Avoid Diabetes

Diabetes is a notorious  disease which has widened its tentacles. It is a disease which is often reported in adults and youth alike.  It may cause serious problem such as cardio vascular disease, high blood pressure, profuse and unstoppable bleeding, late healing of wounds and kidney related complications. It may even affect eye sight adversely.

People  rely on medication for the treatment of diabetes. However medicine alone is not sufficient to provide relief.  A well balanced diet, low on sugar and starch, regular exercise and a fixed regimen are very essential to maintain health and build immunity.

Let us take a look at the several simple methods which can be used with conviction to control diabetes.

1 Regular & healthy diet
Regular meals on time are essential in meeting the needs of the body and maintaining good health. Meals should be light and taken at frequent intervals. This will moderate blood sugar level and make sure it is not too low or high.

2 Eat small portions. No more than three ounces
Do not eat more than three ounces of meat, poultry or fish.  Avoid eating when you are watching television. When watching television, you may not have too much of control over what you eat and how much you eat.

3 Desserts evolve diabetic deserts
Desserts after dinner are tempting. It is difficult to stay away from them. However, if you are a diabetic, it is in your best interest. Desserts are sweet and eating a single serving can raise your blood sugar level. If at all you wish to have dessert, make sure it is made from an artificial sweetener, which has been prescribed by the doctor.

4 Drink plenty of water.
Drink plenty of water. It is good for you. Water is very essential as it helps keep your body in good shape.  Drink a minimum of 8 to 10 glasses of water everyday.

5 Avoid salt, butter and oil.
Avoid these things in your diet as they can have adverse effects on your body.

6 Eat healthy at restaurants.
When eating out, make sure that you order food which is diabetic-friendly. Some restaurants have specifically planned meals for diabetics.

7 Exercise and elevator
Exercise regularly every day. Aerobic exercises such as walking, jogging, slow running, swimming will keep you cool, energetic and lighter through out the day.  While you are in your office or at any shopping mall, use the elevator and avoid the stairs.

Following these steps will help you lead a better and more meaningful life. These steps will help you to control and maintain diabetes.
